On Wednesday, Apr. 26th, Valley VNA Senior Services, Fox Valley Hematology and Oncology and Deb Brunner are holding a Caregiver Support Program at Fox Valley Hematology and Oncology,1370 N. On Wednesday, Apr. 26th, the New London Public Museum welcomes Terese Allen to guide us on an exploration of the foods of Wisconsin past and present at 6 p.m. Registration is suggested, but not required. Bult’s Quality Bake Shop will provide goodies that were featured in one of Ms. Allen’s books. This program is sponsored by a generous grant from the Members of the Friends of the New London Public Museum and their business partners. Thank you! Former chef turned author, Terese Allen shares the history, stories and meaning behind such varied foods as cream puffs, Hmong egg rolls and the Friday night fish fry. Terese Allen has written scores of books and articles about the pleasures and benefits of regional foods, sustainable cooking, and culinary folklore. On Sunday, Apr. 30th, Mosquito Hill Nature Center is holding a Basket Making Workshop: Laptop Basket from 10 a.m. – 4 pm.  This great basket can be used to tote your laptop, tablet, essentials or even a lunch, and offers a sophisticated and hip way to carry all the things you need. Basket dimensions are approximately 12” x 12” x 7”. It includes an oval wooden base and is finished with a leather, braided strap. No previous experience is required. Optional staining will be available for an additional $7.  The cost is $55 per person. On Saturday, May 13th, Mosquito Hill Nature Center is holding a Leave No Family Inside: Froggie Went a Courtin’ from 1 – 3 p.m.  A sure sign of spring is the sound of frog calls coming from our lowland forest. Wisconsin is lucky enough to be home to 12 different species of native frogs and you’ll have the opportunity to learn about them all, including how to identify them by sight and sound. After an indoor presentation, we’ll venture outside to find and listen to frogs singing on the nature center property. Gillum studied habitats of migratory birds, with special emphasis on the ecology of the Common Loon, Gavia immer. It’s a great opportunity for lively discussions, information gathering, refreshments, and lots of creative fun thrown in. On Friday, Dec. 1st, the New London Parks and Recreation Department will be offering the 2017 Reindeer Run / Walk in conjunction with the Holiday of Wonder event.  This 1 mile run / walk starts at 5:30 p.m. at the Ignite Practice Facility (300 Wolf River Plaza).  Check in and day of registration starts at 4:30 p.m. at the Washington Center Gym.  All ages are welcome and strollers are invited.  Everyone is encouraged to wear imaginative & fun holiday attire.  The run / walk will follow the parade route prior to the start of the parade and will finish at the end of the parade route where you can enjoy the parade and downtown Holiday of Wonder.  The entry fee is $10.00.  Registration is available online at www.newlondonwi.org, by calling the New London Parks & Recreation Dept. at (920) 982-8521 or by mailing a registration form to 215 N. On Wednesday, Mar. 14th, the New London Public Library will hold Babygarten from 11 – 11:30 a.m.  Babygarten has lively, interactive stories, songs and activities for creepers, crawlers, walkers and talkers that will encourage early language and literacy development. On Wednesday, Mar. 14th, the New London Public Library is holding an Adult Coloring Club from 5:30 – 7:30 p.m.  Work together on a large coloring project, or feel free to bring your own project and supplies.  This group will meet the 2nd Wednesday of every month.

On Saturday Mar. 17th, the Shamrock Club of New Dublin will host the St. Patrick’s Day Grand Parade at 1p.m.in downtown New Dublin.  Wisconsin’s largest St. Patrick’s Day parade includes an extensive lineup of bagpipe and marching bands, festive clowns, specialty units, clans, business floats and more – up to 125 units or more.  Prizes are awarded for the best entries.  View the Parade Route.  New Dublin Irish Fest will be held downtown under a huge heated tent by Festival Foods from 11 a.m. – 6 p.m. and will feature the following entertainment: Sheamus Fitzpatrick and the McNally Boys from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.; Reilly from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m.  In addition, there will be Irish food, beverages, and market booths.  Entrance to Irish Fest is $5.00 for the day.
